Arrest made in Fitzgerald stabbing


Officers from the Fitzgerald Police Department on Friday arrested Marcus Shelton, 36, and charged him in the death of Samantha Wheeles, 30.

Shelton has been charged with murder, and is being held in the Ben Hill County Jail. 

Wheeles, who had lived in Fitzgerald,  was found dead the morning of April 13 at the Uptown Motel on South Grant Street, with a total of 14 stab wounds. Her body was discovered by an employee of the motel.

Also arrested was 32-year-old Aimee Pless of Ocilla, who has been charged with obstruction. She is also being held in Ben Hill County.
