Lady Devils blank Bleckley in tennis

TIFTON — The Tift County Blue Devil tennis teams split a pair of matches against the Bleckley County Royals at home Wednesday. The girls swept to a 5-0 victory, but the boys could only muster one win against their opponent. The match was a makeup of Monday's rainout.

No Lady Devils singles competitor allowed more than two games against them. All of them won in straight sets. No. 1 doubles, Heather Sattler and Rebekah Crumley did even better, shutting out their Bleckley competition, 6-0, 6-0. The other doubles team of Megan Bowen and Rachel Wall won, 6-4, 6-2.

In singles, it was Taylor Whitehead, 6-1, 6-0, Keri Lee Futch, 6-1, 6-0 and Jordan Hill, 6-2, 6-1.

For the Devils, No. 1 singles Collin Summerlin took a 6-2, 6-1 win.

The teams concluded their regular season Thursday at Coffee. The boys will host Brunswick Monday in a region playoff match at 4 p.m.
