James Eddie Railey

TIFTON — James Eddie Railey, 74, of Tifton died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m.  before the service at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Active pallbearers are Ottis Brogdon, Bill Cowden, Cameron Lott, Clifton Whitley, Jason Guess, Johnny White and James Ryan Jr. Robert Tucker will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Mr. Railey was born Jan. 26, 1940 in Alapaha to the late Eddie and Bessie Webb Railey. He was a retired machine mechanic, having worked for J.P. Stevens and Mohawk Industries. He was currently a part-time employee of Harvey’s Grocery Store. Mr. Railey was a member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church. He loved cooking for and spending time with his family.

Mr. Railey is survived by his wife, Betty Ingram Railey of Tifton; children, Tammy Graham of Fitzgerald and Pam and David Leverett of Ocilla and  James and Virginia Ryan of Tifton; grandchildren, Allyson Harrison, Cameron Lott, Payton Leverett and Jessica Leverett; great-grandchild, Asher Harrison; and his step-grandchildren, Latasha Ryan, Samantha Ryan and Jamie Ryan.

    LEOs and first responders honored at banquet

    A room full of local law enforcement and first responders were honored Thursday night by the Tifton Elks Lodge at their annual Public Safety Officer Appreciation and Awards Banquet for their service in the community.
    Prior to the awards being given out, Louise Spradley, who organized the banquet, welcomed everyone, and the invocation and pledge were led by the Tift County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard.
