TCHS, ESMS swimmers shine in Moultrie

TIFTON — The Tift County Blue Devils swim teams combined for a 1st place finish at Saturday's Packer Invitational. The boys also took 1st while the girls came in 4th. Eleven different teams competed in the meet.

The girls overall race was a close one. Tift's 235 points were just 16 behind Thomasville, who was the leader. The boys dominated their side, finishing 146 points better than 2nd place Houston County. Overall was no contest, too, as the Devils had 682 total points. The next closest team, Lowndes, had 522.

First place finishers were won by both 200-yard medley relay teams.

The boys side consisted of Hunter Cross, Hank McElroy, Connor Jacobson and Drew Wyatt and the girls sent out Casey Hall, Madison Honeycutt, Madeliene Strickland and Claire Ryland. Strickland also had a 1st place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. The girls 200-yard freestyle relay team won by 2 seconds over Harris County. This team consisted of Ryland, Macy Jones, Strickland and Hall.

Others who earned points were:

Boys 200-yard medley relay: Jacob Harper, Alexander Meadows, Tyler Coker and Henry McWilliams (5th).

Girls 200-yard medley relay: Taylor Tucker, Kailin Smith, Jones and Karina Delgado (11th).

Boys 200-yard freestyle: Hank McElroy (2nd), Coker (5th) and Bryce Cross (10th).

Boys 200-yard individual medley: Hank McElroy (3rd), Jacobson (8th) and Wyatt (9th).

Boys 50-yard freestyle: Hunter Cross (2nd), Harper (4th), Meadows (7th), Ben Douglas (9th) and Ezequiel Bautista (14th).

Girls 50-yard freestyle: Ryland (2nd).

Boys 100-yard butterfly: Jacobson (2nd) and McWilliams (8th).

Girls 100-yard butterfly: Tucker (5th).

Boys 100-yard freestyle: Harper (5th), Douglas (9th), Meadows (10th) and Coker (14th).

Girls 100-yard freestyle: Ryland (7th).

Boys 500-yard freestyle: Hunter Cross (3rd), Wyatt (5th) and Bryce Cross (13th).

Girls 500-yard freestyle: Hall (2nd).

Boys 200-yard freestyle relay: Hank McElroy, Jacobson, Wyatt and Hunter Cross (2nd) and Douglas, McWilliams, Meadows and Harper (3rd).

Girls 200-yard freestyle relay: Tucker, Delgado, Smith and Honeycutt (9th).

Boys 100-yard backstroke: Alex McElroy (4th), Tracy Blanchard (11th) and Matthew Fisher (13th).

Girls 100-yard backstroke: Hall (2nd).

Boys 100-yard breaststroke: Fisher (10th).

Girls 100-yard breaststroke: Haley Walker (15th).

Boys 400-yard freestyle relay: Alex McElroy, Bautista, Coker and Blanchard (3rd) and Fisher, Jackson Short, Bryce Cross and Jasper Thornton (7th).

Girls 400-yard freestyle relay: Lauren Abbott, Taylor Rella, Walker and Hannah Holloway (6th).

Middle school swimmers also had the chance to participate Dec. 14 in the Packer Invitational in Moultrie. Tift County not only was the overall winner, but took both boys and girls crowns.

The Blue Devils were over 300 points better than 2nd place Lee County overall. The girls won by a similar margin over Colquitt County, but the boys edged Lee by 4 points.

Numerous local swimmers won their events. The 200-yard medley relay was won by the combination of Tommy Fletcher, Samuel Lawson, Jacob Redd and Dylan Coker in the boys meet and the in the girls by Julianna Cross, Ansley Mobley, Stephanie Connell and Ashley Golden. The boys group also won the 200-yard freestyle relay. Lawson took wins in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke while Ansley Mobley won the girls 200-yard freestyle. Redd won the 200-yard individual medley. Golden had another win in the 50-yard freestyle, Coker in the 100-yard backstroke. Connell won for the girls in the 100-yard backstroke as well and the 400-yard girls freestyle relay was taken by Autumn Hardy, Lauren Stone, Ree Daniell and Riley Roberts.

Girls 200-yard freestyle: Lawson (2nd) and Autumn Hardy (3rd).

GIrls 200-yard individual medley: Cross (2nd).

Boys 50-yard freestyle: Noah Stephens (2nd), Blake Chitwood (3rd), Spencer Shaw (5th), Lavida Hall (9th) and Zack Driskell (12th).

Girls 50-yard freestyle: Evans (3rd), Laura Brock (5th), Ariel Lewis (6th), Kimberly Washington (8th) and Jada Baker (16th).

Boys 100-yard freestyle: Stephens (2nd), Fletcher (3rd), Chitwood (4th), Seth Hover (7th), William McDaniel (8th), Shaw (10th) and Hall (13th).

Girls 100-yard freestyle: Fisher (3rd), Kelly Atkins (5th), Toews (6th), Brock (9th), Lewis (10th), Golden (11th), Roberts (12th), Amanda Corey (14th) and Lucia Navia (16th).

Boys 500-yard freestyle: Redd (2nd).

Girls 500-yard freestyle: Connell (2nd) and Lawson (3rd).

Girls 200-yard freestyle: Fisher, Evans, Toews and Lawson (3rd) and Connell, Cross, Golden and Mobley (5th).

Boys 100-yard backstroke: Fletcher (2nd), Caleb Rice (3rd) and McDaniel (5th).

Girls 100-yard backstroke: Cross (3rd), Corey (4th), Savannah Miller (5th), Ryland (6th), Hannah Walker (9th), Hardy (10th), Moriah Daniel (11th), Daniell (12th), Rice (14th) and Madi Simmons (16th).

Girls 400-yard freestyle relay: Walker, Atkins, Bennett and Ryland (2nd).
