Rants & Raves - December 6

If the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) fails, so be it. If it succeeds and Republicans with to repeal when and if they gain majority of both houses, then so be it. Today, Republicans should focus on the more important issue of the U.S. budget and out-of-control spending. Focus on a positive future.
The new appointee placed by the mayor on the DDA does not own property downtown. Another he appointed a while back lives in the county and doesn't own property downtown. These are facts. People who invest their livelihoods in an area are more apt to care about it.
With the rabbit hole we are going down, we need to change our name to Detroit. Cronyism is going to be the death of our little town.
I thought littering was against the law. All cotton gins need to put tarps on the back of all their trucks loaded or empty. Just go down 319S or 82E. Cotton is all along the road. Please help keep Tifton the clean city it used to be.
An opinionista made this remark Thursday: "I think the mayor and two councilmen are trying to make a change into more progressive and business-friendly boards that will create jobs and better opportunities for its citizens." And just how would they be doing that? It's 3-to-2 on the council right now. Please be specific because I haven't seen much growth hereabouts.
Good point about the trailer parks. I'd also like to know if anyone has smelled the gosh-awful urine smell around 6th and Tift Avenue. There are times it gags you to drive by some of those houses. Need to find the problem. Probably bats.
Someone said that the way things are now is keeping jobs out of Tifton. Baloney. There are three on council that seem to run the show and two that are always getting blasted for their way of voting. Remember, everyone votes for board members. If board members of the DDA are blocking anything, remember it took a majority vote to put these people in those positions.
