Bealls Outlet shoppers at The Tifton Mall got a sweet surprise Wednesday afternoon when they saw the Jelly Belly Mobile RV, which is the heart of Jelly Belly On Tour, sitting in the parking lot.
Jim Coffey said he and his wife, Ruth, travel to various big events and stores that sell Jelly Belly products as a part of the nationwide Jelly Belly On Tour. He said this is their fourth year being involved with the tour. However, they have been involved with the company in some way or another since 1990 when they owned their very own candy shop and sold many of the Jelly Belly products.
“It’s a great company,” Coffey said, adding that the products are great and fun as well.
He said he and Ruth left March 20 for tour. They expect to make 100 stops, including Valdosta, before returning to the Jelly Belly headquarters in Fairfield, Calif. in December.
While on tour, Coffey said they try to introduce new flavors. He said Wednesday that as guests of Bealls, which carries Jelly Belly products, they focused their attention on folks walking by the RV, as well as reminding people that Bealls carries Jelly Belly products.
Many people pulled out their cell phones to take a photo of the colorful RV with an inflatable Mr. Jelly Belly, Jelly Belly’s mascot, sitting on top. A Jelly Belly Beetle was also parked next to the RV while a Mr. Jelly Belly plush doll sat nearby in a chair.
Jelly Belly lovers satisfied their sweet tooth by enjoying free samples of some of the latest flavors and had the opportunity to participate in a free drawing to win a 20-flavor Jelly Belly box. They also had the opportunity to sample Jelly Belly’s mystery flavor and guess what it is by going online to play the Jelly Belly Mystery Flavor Game to win $10,000, plus thousands of instant prizes.
According to the Jelly Belly website, today, Jelly Belly is the world’s No. 1 gourmet jelly bean, the bean of choice for all those with the most discerning taste, and made in 50 official flavors and a dizzying array of new flavors, special collections and wacky flavors.
Those who missed out on seeing the Jelly Belly Mobile RV Wednesday can check it out from noon to 4 p.m. today at Peach Creek on Highway 82.
