Tift swimmers win Blue Devil Invitational

TIFTON — Both Tift County Blue Devil swim teams won the Blue Devil Invitational Saturday at Darton College and also won the combined championship.

Several had first place honors in their. Katelyn Seymour won the the girls 200 freestyle, Hank McElroy and Mary Shoup won their individual 200 individual medleys. Claire Ryland was tops in the girls 50 freestyle,

Anna Lee Atwater won the girls 100 freestyle, Hunter Cross and Casey Hall won brought home first in the 500 freestyle races. Hall also won the girls 100 backstroke and the relay team of Seymour, Shoup, Atwater and Madison Honeycutt were victorious in the girls 400 freestyle relay.

Other swimmers earning points at the Blue Devil Invitational were:

Boys 200 medley relay: Matthew Fisher, Jackson Short, Alex McElroy and Michael Love (tied for 3rd), Hunter Cross, Hank McElroy, Connor Jacobson and Drew Wyatt (tied for 3rd) and Jacob Harper, Noah Daniels, Henry McWilliams and Alexander Meadows (6th).

Hunter Cross in the 50 freestyle, Hall in the 500 freestyle and the relay team of Hank McElroy, Jacobson, Wyatt and Hunter Cross in the 200 freestyle relay qualified for the state tournament.

Girls 200 medley relay: Atwater, Honeycutt, Seymour and Shoup (2nd), Hall, Madeliene Strickland, Katie Arnold and Ryland (4th).

Boys 200 freestyle: Hank McElroy (2nd), Bryce Cross (5th) and Short (9th).

Boys 200 individual medley: Wyatt (4th) and Jacobson (5th).

Girls 200 individual medley: Strickland (5th).

Boys 50 freestyle: Hunter Cross (3rd), Meadows (8th), Harper (9th and Daniels (13th).

Girls 50 freestyle: Macy Jones (11th).

Boys 100 fly: Jacobson (3rd), McWilliams (6th) and Short (8th).

Girls 100 fly: Atwater (2nd), Arnold (9th) and Taylor Tucker (10th).

Boys 100 freestyle: Harper (4th), Meadows (6th), Alex McElroy (8th), Tracy Blanchard (11th) and Ezequiel Bautista (12th).

Girls 100 freestyle: Seymour (2n), Ryland (5th), Honeycutt (10th), Jones (13th), Megan Bowen (14th) and Haley Walker (16th).

Boys 500 freestyle: Wyatt (2nd) and Bryce Cross (5th).

Girls 500 freestyle: Strickland (4th).

Boys 200 freestyle relay: Hank McElroy, Jacobson, Wyatt and Hunter Cross (2nd) and Daniels, McWilliams, Meadows and Harper (4th).

Girls 200 freestyle relay: Ryland, Jones, Strickland and Hall (2nd) and Lauren Abbott, Bowen, Hannah Holloway and Arnold (8th).

Boys 100 backstroke: Alex McElroy (7th), Blanchard (10th) and Fisher (13th).

Girls 100 backstroke: Shoup (3rd), Arnold (6th), Tucker (11th), Holloway (13th) and Abbott (16th).

Boys 100 breaststroke: Daniels (7th) and Fisher (9th).

Girls 100 breaststroke: Honeycutt (4th), Victoria Mendoza (9th), Kaylin Smith (12th), Abbott (13th) and Bowen (14th).

Boys 400 freestyle relay: Ben Douglas, Alex McElroy, Blanchard and Short (2nd) and Bautista, Bryce Cross, Jasper Thornton and Love (5th).

Girls 400 freestyle relay: Karina Delgado, Rylan Grace, Tucker and Haley Walker (7th).

The swim team will be at the Colquitt Invitational Saturday for a 10 a.m. meet before taking off for Christmas.
