Skateboarder hit by vehicle on Carpenter Road

TIFTON — A young man riding his skateboard was hit by a vehicle Wednesday night on Carpenter Road.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper First Class Ryan Harding said the accident happened at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Carpenter Road, just south of Melba Drive.

Taylor Graham, in his late teens or early 20s, was skateboarding in the middle of Carpenter Road, traveling northbound when Nathaniel Sartain, also in his late teens or early 20s, was traveling in a vehicle northbound as well. Sartain reportedly didn't notice Graham, and there was a collision.

Graham, who sustained a broken leg and other injuries, was airlifted to a hospital in Macon. Harding said he's doing well.

Sartain was not injured. However, he did have a passenger in the vehicle with him who sustained minor injuries to his arm from broken glass. The passenger, who called in the accident, went to Tift Regional Medical Center by personal vehicle. He was treated and released.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
