Job fair provides opportunity, guidance for probationers

TIFTON — The Day Reporting Center held a job fair Friday morning for probationers to provide them with information on how to obtain a job.

Speakers included Katrina Hall, chief probation officer; Rachel Hunter with Caption D’s; Janet Boyd with Cracker Barrel; Kay Simpson, the center’s administrator; Bryan Sain, probation officer; Russell Croft, surveillance officer; Chuck Yzenski, lead counselor at the center; Andrew Hughlett III, rehabilitation employment specialist; and Gary Hester, GED instructor.

Hester instructs the Work Ready class, where probationers are given skills for when they go for an interview. He also teaches them how to “dress for success” and sets up mock interviews.

Sain said actual employers have participated in the mock interviews and hired some of the probationers, who have gone on to be successful.

Once they’ve completed the Work Ready class, they go to Moultrie Technical College to take an exam and get a certificate.

Sain said 46 probationers attended Friday’s job fair.
