TIFTON — Prior to Tuesday night’s escort for the Tift County Blue Devils as the 2014 Class AAAAAA state champions, the team and coaches stopped by the Tift County Board of Education office to be recognized by the board at their regular meeting. Head coach Dr. Eric Holland thanked the board for their support and presented them with the state championship ball signed by the team and state championship T-shirts. He also introduced each player and coach to the board. He said, “It takes a community to win a state championship.” In addition, Athletic Director Rusty Smith commented on the team’s passion, and Tift County High School Principal Kim Seigler commented on the great character they showed as winners. Not only did the team receive comments on how proud others were of them, they also got a standing ovation.

Football coaches speak at TRMC health event
A big crowd attended the eighth annual Tift Regional Medical Center Kickoff to Men's Health, which featured food, giveaways, health screenings, health care tips, a speech from longtime referee Dick Kitchens as well as a preseason update from many of the area's head football coaches, emceed by Chris Beckham.
