James Leon Willis

TY TY — James Leon Willis, 80, of Ty Ty died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jim Duggan and the Rev. Jimmy Albritton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Mr. Willis was born Dec. 28, 1933 in Worth County to the late James Lee and Thelma Roberts Willis. He graduated from Norman Park High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving 20 years. He served two tours in the Vietnam War era, served in the Navy Seabees and was a black belt on the Navy Judo Team. After his military service, he built a 55-foot steel-hulled shrimp boat. Mr. Willis was a former resident of Biloxi, Miss. and worked as a deputy for the Lee County, Fla. Sheriff’s Department for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Lott Ontiveros Willis of Ty Ty; a son, James Lee Willis of Tennessee; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Bill Dameron of Ocoee, Fla.; three stepsons, Michael Ontiveros, Richard Ontiveros and Christopher Ontiveros; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Howard and Helen Willis of Hawkinsville and Gerald Willis of Atlanta; and a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jerry Moulton of Groveland, Fla.
