Coogle sworn in to serve term with Board of Education

TIFTON — Local man Tom Coogle was officially sworn in as a Tift County Board of Education member by Tift County Probate Court Judge Suzanne Carter Johnson Thursday during a special called meeting. He will serve the remainder of former board member Gannon Hall’s term for District 3.

Chairwoman Kim Rutland welcomed Coogle to the board and presented him with his very own name plate to add to the board discussion table.

“I appreciate very much your willingness to serve in this capacity,” she said. “It’s not for the faint of heart. You take many criticisms, but the reward you get from it means so much.”

She also thanked Coogle’s wife, Jill, for her support, who was seated in the audience with Coogle’s father, Tommy Coogle, and many Tift County Schools staff.
