Blue Devils sweep Valdosta

TIFTON — The Tift County Diamond Devils added two more wins to their record, courtesy of a Monday sweep over the Valdosta Wildcats.

The Devils won 14-5, then in a wild 12-11 game to improve their record to 14-2 and a 4-2 region in Region 1-AAAAAA.

They were originally slated to play the 'Cats last Friday, but rains postponed the doubleheader, which resulted in the cancellation of their originally scheduled Monday game with Berrien.

Tift's next game is Friday, when they face the Brunswick Pirates at 4:30 p.m. in the first of two games.

After nearly two open weeks, they will head into the home stretch of their schedule, with a doubleheader April 18 at home against Coffee, then a special night on April 19 when they play Crisp County at Turner Field in Atlanta.

Senior night is April 21 against Bainbridge, then the regular season ends with a doubleheader at Camden County and a return game with Crisp.

The Devils started 2014 with a 9-0 record before being defeated by Lowndes.
