Rants & Raves - March 27

TIFTON —

Bob Evans restaurants are the greatest family restaurants but are not in Georgia. I have called our mayor, but no reply and called the Chamber of Commerce. I got a thank you, but no reply. Tifton could be the first to have one in Georgia if our leaders would investigate. There are a lot of eating establishments in Tifton, but none can compare with Bob Evans. They have a class establishment. Good food and service. We do need more industry, but a Bob Evans restaurant would draw a lot of out of town people.

Looks like Tifton is becoming one huge speed trap. Or is it a money grabbing thing for the police department? We all know there are those who need catching. Why don't you get out and get the right ones instead of grabbing the easy ones?
••••••••••••••
Bill Bowen Road needs to be black topped or something. That road is horrible! Just dust and dirt and too muddy when it rains. My vehicle and others have rust and problems because of that horrible road.

The idea behind school tax is that we all (society) educate our young. Property owner and renters (renters pay indirectly through their landlord) and those with and without children pay. Everybody who lives in the county pays. The ranter that thinks seniors should be exempt had no problem accepting taxes from the seniors of his time. And there are many seniors who can pay easier than some families trying to support three young children. Maybe a local income tax on those making more than $1 million might help.

For the senior who doesn't want to pay for public schools: Public schools benefit the entire community, not just people with children in school. The quality of our schools affects the quality of our community, the kinds of businesses that will locate here and many other things.
