Edna Sandiford Underwood

MYSTIC — Edna Sandiford Underwood, 90, died March 24, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tift Memorial Gardens with Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at Lord and Stephens West.

A native of Mystic, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Aithee Wynn Sandiford . She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Clayton Roberts in 1947 and her second husband, James Marion Underwood in 2005. She was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Underwood in 1975.

Mrs. Underwood lived in the Athens area for 11 years and was a member of Watkinsville First Christian Church. She lived in Tifton since 1946 and was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Tifton and was a former member of First United Methodist Church of Tifton. She was owner and operator of a floor covering business in Tifton for 18 years and was a substitute teacher in Tifton for 20 years.

Survivors include three children, Larry W. Roberts, Karen Finnerty of Watkinsville and Cindy Fuller of Ellijay; sister, Zelda Spicer of Irwinville; grandchildren, Jennifer Roberts (Scott) Brazinski, Clayton (Patti) Roberts, Michael Finnerty (Alison Evans), Kristen Finnerty (Matt) Bays, Bandy Fuller; great grandchildren, Landon Brazinski, Colby Brazinski, Eliana Roberts, Gregory Bays and Chandler Bays; extended family member, Veronica Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
