Emily Rochelle Hudson Copeland

ASHBURN — Funeral services for Emily Rochelle Hudson Copeland, 68, of Ashburn will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Copeland died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center following an illness. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Perry Funeral Chapel, located at 301 McLendon St. in Ashburn.

Mrs. Copeland was a native of Madison, Fla. and the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Jessie Lee Floyd Hudson. She was a 1963 graduate of Turner County High School and The Macon Hospital School of X-Ray Technology in 1965, becoming a member of the A.R.R.T. (The American Registry of Radiologic Technology) and was a member for more than 40 years. She was a former member of the A.S.R.T. (The American Society of Radiologic Technology) and The Georgia Society of Radiologic Technology. She worked the last 20 years at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald before retiring in 2005.

She married Larry Allen Copeland, son of the late Lee Roy and Florence Cleghorn Copeland, in 1965. They were married until his death Nov. 3, 2012. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judy Kay Copeland, and a brother, Bob Hudson. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved her family, friends and her profession, cooking and country music.

She is survived by her children, Al and Wendy Copeland of Bonaire, Robbie and Kimberley Copeland of Tifton and Bill and Kim Copeland of Acworth; her grandchildren, Stephanie and Joshua Rodriquez of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Leigh Ann and Darryl Copeland of Bonaire, Seth, Aaron and Matthew Smith and Colton Copeland, all of Tifton, and Kathryn Foust, Will and Scarlet Copeland of Acworth; a sister, Faye Saylor of Sycamore; sisters-in-law, Montine Hudson of Ashburn, Diane Gregory of Sycamore, Betty Lamb of Ashburn and Teressa Smith of Texas; brothers-in-laws, Dean Saylor, Larry Gregory, Wayne Lamb and Danny Smith; and a number of wonderful nieces and nephews.
