Richard D. “Rick” Whittington


Richard D. “Rick” Whittington, 59, of Lutz died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, following complications from a sudden heart attack. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Silver Sands Beach and Racquet Club Clubhouse, St. Pete Beach.
Mr. Whittington was born Sept. 11, 1954 in Albany to Bob and Marylene Whittington and had lived in Alpharetta, Canton and Omaha, Neb. before moving to Florida in 2004. He was a Tampa Bay resident for the past 10 years. He was employed by the Florida Department of Transportation District 7 Final Estimates Office. He was a graduate of Tift County High School and Georgia State University and served as a board member for the Gulf Claridge Condominium Association in St. Pete Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Cindi; brother, Mike (Kathy) of Tifton; sisters, Gail (Phil) Blalock of Summerville, S.C. and Brenda (Mark) Spampinato of Tifton; stepmother, Myrtle Whittington of Tifton; father-in-law, Norbert Porczak of Mansfield, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Lainie (Tom) Ardisson of Lawrenceville, Barb (Bill) Creighton of Shelocta, Penn., Beth (Neil) Stuber of Munroe Falls, Ohio and Paula Porczak of Mansfield, Ohio; and eight nieces and six nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rick’s memory to the American Heart Association or your local Humane Society. Words of comfort may be expressed at Loylessfuneralhome.com.
