A local woman was arrested Tuesday on a fugitive warrant based on a warrant from the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. The warrant charged Natalie Joyce Carter, 35, with grand theft III.
Lt. Col. Bobby Brannen with the Tift County Sheriff’s Office said the date of the offense on the grand theft III in Florida was Oct. 18, and the complaint affidavit was filed Nov. 16.
“Their arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 12. I received the Florida warrant on Dec. 17 and took the fugitive warrant that same date,” he said. “The Florida warrant listed a Tifton address, so they knew she was from Tifton when they started the process on their end.”
He explained that when a warrant comes to them from another state, unless the defendant is already in custody, they take a fugitive warrant to arrest them here.
Deputy Hutchinson arrested Carter at 2719 Woodlawn Avenue. Carter was also arrested by the Tifton Police Department on fourth degree forgery charges Nov. 22.
