One dead after crash, charges pending

A two-vehicle wreck Monday morning at the intersection of Upper Ty Ty Road and Ray Taylor Road leaves one Ty Ty man dead.

TFC C.H. Parrish with the Georgia State Patrol Post 13 told The Tifton Gazette Monday afternoon that at 9:01 a.m., 76-year-old Johnnie Hill of Tifton was traveling westbound on Upper Ty Ty Road in a 2002 Ford truck, and Stephen Hobbs, 58, of Ty Ty was traveling east on Upper Ty Ty Road in a 1984 Chevrolet Blazer.

Parrish said Hill attempted to turn left on Ray Taylor Road when both his and Hobbs’ vehicles collided head on. Hobbs was pronounced dead on the scene. Hill received no injuries.

Parrish said the accident is still under investigation by the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team. Charges are pending.
