Rant and Raves for February 16

Whether the CBO's estimation of whether people working less is voluntary or involuntary is irrelevant in the overall economy. Are we supposed to feel better that some people will have to work to pay for healthcare that others are getting but not paying for? Obamacare is a disincentive to work. And the loss of productivity will further harm the country.

A recent letter complained that info about the CBO report on Obamacare was purposely misrepresented. He then cited the lower unemployment rate as proof that the job market is improving. What he failed to mention is that the unemployment rate is lower because millions of unemployed Americans are no longer counted. We have the lowest labor participation rate in decades.

To the person living in the nice north side neighborhood: Do you belong to your homeowners association? Are you retired and have you forgotten how difficult it is to work, raise children and keep your neighbors happy? Is something going on with your neighbor that you could help with, like sickness, death or other things? Don’t be so quick to condemn and be a true neighbor. Life is too short for your attitude, or better yet I bet your neighbors would like for you to move.

When are the panhandlers especially standing at Walmart and as you exit I-75 going to leave? It is uncomfortable to come to a stop at both places where they are standing and they just stare at you!

I think all the school nurses deserve a raise! They take such good care of our children. We should all take a stand and let the Board of Education know they deserve a raise.

That "familiar face" you saw in the paper is the face of drug addiction.  He should be given time for his crimes, and drug rehabilitation. Our present war on drugs has failed miserably. I believe we should limit the scope of the drug war and legalize marijuana for recreational use in the state of Georgia. We could tax it and use a portion of that revenue to fund drug rehabilitation for those prisoners who are addicted to hard drugs. We should get these people the help they so desperately need. If we took these steps, the unemployment rate would drop, the crime rate would plummet, Georgia tourism would boom, the state's coffers would be overflowing and every farmer in this state could drive a Rolls Royce whenever their Lamborghini's in the shop. Everyone wins.
