Robert H. “Bobby” Walker

MYSTIC — Robert H. “Bobby” Walker, 59, of Mystic died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Charles Tyson, Elder Jim Sandlin and Pastor Tracy Clements officiating. One of his nephews, Josh Drawdy, will give the eulogy. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mr. Walker was born Sept. 29, 1954 in Irwin County to Harold and Viviette Roberts Walker of Ocilla. A 1974 graduate of Irwin County High School, he lived in many places during his father’s service in the Air Force. The family traveled to Germany, as well as many states, including Kansas and Washington. With the exception of these years, Mr. Walker lived his life in Irwin County. He was a retired machine operator with Delphi Automotive Systems, having begun his 34-year career with Delco-Remy in Fitzgerald. He attended Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Walker enjoyed playing golf, as well as hunting and fishing. He was a photographer and also enjoyed painting and woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sherry Merritt Walker of Mystic; three sisters, Vickie and Dale Drawdy of Ocilla, Wanda Walker of Nashville and Zinda and Nelson Johnson of Ocilla; and several nieces and nephews.
