Rants & Raves - February 13

I have read The Tifton Gazette for years and really enjoy the Rants & Raves section.  It is a great way to understand the feeling of the people in our community.  What I do not understand is some people's fear of the Fox News channel.  If you're consistently rated No. 1 in broadcast news, as Fox News is, you must be doing something right.  Could it be that Fox gives people both sides of an issue, not just one?  Also, please tell us what study you were referring to so everyone can have a chance to read it.
I just bought a bottle of wine at a local grocery store and the checkout clerk wanted to know my birthday. I am almost 80 and probably look every day of it. Anyway, if they have some doubt about my age, they should request a photo ID. An underage purchaser would obviously lie about their age. Let's use a little common sense. That was a dumb question.
So the state legislature is considering a law that would allow guns in church. I assume that legislators who support such an asinine law are just trying to improve their standing with the NRA. If you feel the need to carry a gun to church to protect yourself, you might want to consider changing churches.
Why do out of control, rude kids have more of a right to go to the sporting events than someone who just wanted to support the team and see a good game? Guess what? They don't. My family quit supporting our local teams years ago because of unsupervised, rude kids. I guess when others start to find something else to do, then something will be done about it. As for the suggestion of changing seats, that doesn't always work. Been there, tried that on numerous occasions.. It ends up being more trouble than it's worth. If I want to go to a game, I want to be able to watch and hear what's going on on the court or field, not see the backside of feral kids with potty mouths.
