Emmett Lester Nalls

TIFTON — Emmett Lester Nalls, 88, of Tifton, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with Dr, Wayne Roe officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Roger Nalls Jr., Jason Culpepper, Brandon Potts, Nathan Potts, Christopher Nalls, Tommy Nalls, Page Brooks, Tommy Pickren, Ken Henry and Mike Henry. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Beaumont, BOCH Sunday school class of First Baptist Church and the staff of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

 Mr. Nalls was born Jan. 20, 1926 in Miller County to the late Emmett Franklin Nalls and Sarah Susie Tyler Nalls. He is also preceded in death by a brother, James Perry Nalls; two sisters, Johnnie Sue Nalls and Gladys Hayes and a grandson-in-law, Jason Brad Smith. Mr. Nalls graduated from Miller County High School before joining the United States Army and serving at the end of WWII. After his military service, he graduated from Perry Business School in Albany. He was a retired accountant with the financial office at ABAC and started working for Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors in 1988 until present. Mr. Nalls was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was former treasurer and assistant treasurer for the Mell Baptist Association for many years, and served on the Red Cross Board of Directors. Mr. Nalls was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an expert at needle work and enjoyed camping.

Mr. Nalls is survived by his wife, Johnnie Ruth Pickren Nalls; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Linda Nalls and Craig and Terri Nalls, all of Tifton; one brother, Collie Nalls of Ft. Stockton, Texas; two sisters, Dixie Harrell of Bainbridge and Inez Henry of Colquitt; five grandchildren, Roger and Moni Nalls, Erika and Jason Culpepper, Ashley and Page Brooks, Christopher and Katie Nalls and Rebekah Nalls; and 13 great-grandchildren.
