Tidal Wave swimmers post best times at Mac Crutchfield

TIFTON — Last weekend, 14 members of the Tiftarea Tidal Wave participated in the Mac Crutchfield Memorial Swim Meet held at Florida State University in Tallahassee.

Several of the swimmers had their best ever times. Kirsten Murphy became the sixth member of the team to qualify for the 14 and under USA Swimming Georgia state championships by qualifying in the 12-year-old 50 fly and 200 Fly. 

Beau Bengston won the overall High Point Award for the 9-10 boys age group.  Eden Troxell won the 9-10 girls 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:00.81.  This time ranks her as the sixth fastest of her age group in the United States for the 2013-2014 short course season to date.

 The six qualifiers for the state meet are completing their final preparations for the state championship which takes place Feb. 21-23 at Georgia Tech.  The rest of the group is preparing for the Georgia Southwest Divisional Championship, set to take place in Columbus Mar. 28-30.
