SYCAMORE — Edward Ray Black, 81, of Sycamore died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at his residence following a short illness. Funeral services will e held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Perry Funeral Chapel Inc. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Chapel. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Scott Black; sons, Ray Eric Black of Pearson, Todd Black of Ashburn; daughter, Jodye Jones of Sylvester; and brothers, Billy R. Black of Ashburn, Hurbert Black of Sylvester, David "Timmy" Black of Sycamore and Joe R. Black of Ft. Myers, Fla. Local swimmers 4th at state meet
After one day in the pool at Baldwin Drive Aquatic Center, the Tiftarea Tidal Wave came into Saturday's state swim championships in eighth place overall in the standings. Having to rely on their older swimmers to make up ground, the veterans pulled through.
