SharpShooters make 7th trip to national match

TIFTON — The 49th annual Daisy National BB Gun Championship Match in Rogers, Ark. kicked off on the 4th of July and the Tift County 4-H SharpShooters made their 7th appearance.  Only the top three teams from each state are invited to the nation’s oldest BB gun match with teams from more than a dozen states competing.

After two days of competition and more than 13,000 shots fired from 338 shooters and 51 teams the Tift County SharpShooters finished in 20th position with the team from Pierre, S.D. winning the national championship.

"I would like to thank the Tift County Extension Office for their support of these 4-Hers and the entire community during our fundraising efforts.  We are not a pickup team, not a travel all-star team; each of these kids began the season last August and have worked together representing Tifton and Tift County at numerous competitions.  A special thank you to Coach Tracy Homer and Coach Sephus Willis, Willis was unable to attend the National Match," said David Haire.

This season our shooting sports teams traveled 7,000 miles to competitions in Colorado, Arkansas and Georgia.  If you would like to learn more about the program, contact the Tift County Extension Office at 229-391-7980.
