Fan drive a success – fans still available

TIFTON — The "Tifton: We're Your Biggest Fans!" fan drive has been an outstanding success, due mostly to the generosity of the community.

In partnership with the United Way of South Central Georgia and One Street at a Time, the drive collected close to 70 fans, and just a few are left, waiting to be picked up.

Local residents who received fans have expressed their gratitude time after time, saying they are thankful to the community for its generosity. The fans have been given to people of all ages, with families and without, old and young.

The drive was joined by Cottongim Services, which pledged to donate a fan throughout the summer each time the United Way's Facebook page gains 25 more "likes." You can add the United Way page to your list of "likes" at www.facebook.com/uway.socenga.

The Downtown Farmers Market in Tifton also joined the effort, serving as the final drop-off point for fans this past Saturday and collecting around 20 fans.

If you have not received a fan and still need one, please drop by the offices of The Gazette this week for an application. Fans will be distributed until they are all gone, although no more donations are being accepted.
