TIFTON — Ruth's Cottage and The Patticake House recently held family violence training for law enforcement officers in the Tift Judicial District. Sponsored by the Georgia Commission on Family Violence, the Tift County district was chosen to be a training site because of its high rates of domestic violence and homicide. Officers from the Tifton Police Department, Tift County Sheriff''s Office, Worth County Sheriff's Office, Omega Police Department, ABAC Police Department and the Ben Hill County Sheriff's Office attended, as well as Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough, shown above left, and Ben Hill County Sheriff Bobby L. McLemore.

Rosters, voodoo doctors topics at Kickoff to Men’s Health
In addition to the local football coaches speaking Saturday at the Tift Regional Medical Center's Men's Health Event at the YMCA, three others from the area also spoke, Buddy Nobles of Irwin County, John Gamble of Turner County and Jason Strickland of Fitzgerald. Discussions ranged from the more conventional topics of scrimmages and rosters to stranger mentions of voodoo doctors.
