Ruby Bryant Carr

TIFTON — Ruby Bryant Carr, 90, of Tifton, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastside Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Ray and the Rev. Shane Ashley officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. today at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. Active pallbearers are Willis Marchant, Tommie Day Smith, Mike O’Hara, Jerry Hobbs, Stacy Aultman, Darrell McKee and Guy Haynes. Honorary pallbearers are the Faithful Servants Sunday School Class of Eastside Baptist Church and the Salem Baptist Church Senior Ministry.

Miss Ruby was born Feb. 3, 1924 in Walker County to the late James Tillman and Maude Clark Bryant. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Judson Wiley Carr who died June 20, 2001; a granddaughter, Leila Giddens; two brothers and seven sisters. Miss Ruby retired from Avondale Mills in Tifton.

he was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church and the Faithful Servants Sunday School Class. Miss Ruby loved children and taught so many over her lifetime. She loved to talk and hear about Jesus. She especially enjoyed Vacation Bible School where she worked in the kitchen. Recently, one young lady referred to her as “The Mother of Our Church.”  She will be missed greatly by many but is now residing in her final home with Jesus. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is not in pain, but will be very happy for eternity.

Surviving Miss Ruby are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Randall Carr of Tifton and Penny and Jerry Giddens of Brookfield; four grandchildren, Sandy and Chris Hudgins, Randy Carr, Jennifer and Ricky Barnes and Kim Giddens; six great-grandchildren, Carrie Carr, Drew Giddens, Amy Hudgins, Katie Carr, Kyle Hudgins, and Jack Carr; a special niece that she considered as a sister, Polly Parnell of Chula; and several nieces and nephews.

The family of Miss Ruby is meeting at the home of her granddaughter, Sandy and Chris Hudgins, 94 Wildflower Rd., Tifton, GA 31794.

Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, P.O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793. You may sign the guest registry at www.albritton-beaumontfuneralhome.com. Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
