GBI investigating Tifton Drugs (updated Friday afternoon)

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was at Tifton Drugs in downtown Tifton Thursday afternoon, removing loads of plastic containers from the business.
Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough said the Drug Enforcement Agency, along with the GBI, are handling the investigation. He confirmed to The Tifton Gazette this morning that the investigation does not involve The Medicine Man Corner, which shares a building with Tifton Drugs.
Mark McLean, owner of The Medicine Man Corner, said they are two separate businesses. He and Tifton Drugs split the expenses of the building, but they have no other association.
Unconfirmed reports state that Tift County Superior Court Judge Melanie Cross signed a writ of possession for Valdosta-based Commercial Bank to seize the assets of Tifton Drug Company. More details will be provided later.
