Three more arrests have been made in connection with the July 7th commercial gambling case.
According to a report from the Tift County Sheriff's Office, three women were arrested Monday: Gloria Ann Knight, 40, of Omega was charged with three counts of commercial gambling; Marie Webb Mobley, 58, of Tifton was charged with one count of commercial gambling; and Jessica Guadalupe Garcia, 22, of Tifton was charged with one count of commercial gambling.
The Tifton Gazette had previously reported that several local convenience stores were raided by law enforcement.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported that the GBI’s Commercial Gambling Unit, along with the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force, the TCSO and in cooperation with the Georgia Lottery Corporation, on July 7 executed 18 search warrants in the Tift County area for violations of Georgia’s commercial gambling laws.
Search warrants were served at 13 businesses, three residences, one storage facility and one office location. Five arrests were made for felony counts of commercial gambling, as well as other related gambling charges.
In total, more than 100 agents, investigators and deputy sheriffs launched the raids, which resulted in 128 gaming machines being confiscated.
