LV to auction golf cart at Chocolate Classic

TIFTON —

Literacy Volunteers of Tifton-Tift County will auction a 2010 electric golf cart at the Chocolate Classic 2014  Feb. 6. The chocolate extravaganza will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Hilton Garden Inn.

The golf cart, an Ezgo PDS with lift and light kits and a flip-down seat, is donated by Shiver Carts.  It can be seen this week on the courthouse lawn. After Jan. 31, it will be located in front of Olive Garden. “We are grateful to Brendon Shiver for supplying us this cart,” Dr. John Hamm, president of LVTTC, said. “It has generated a lot of excitement about the Chocolate Classic. Mr. Shiver’s support of our literacy efforts is greatly appreciated.”

The Classic features chocolate tastings from up to 10 chocolatiers. Participants can go from table to table sampling chocolate creations while sipping wine, champagne, coffee and milk, and then they will vote on their favorite dessert.  The chocolatiers compete for best taste, best presentation and best in show.

Participating in the event are the following: The Bistro at 219, Cakes by Audrey, Three Graces at the Lankford Manor, Publix, Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center, Chili’s, Longhorns, Small Cakes, Olive Garden and Ruby Tuesday’s.

Following the chocolate tasting, a silent and live auction will be held.

“We have exciting auction items, beside the golf cart,” Liz Carson Keith said.

Among the items to be auctioned are Moody Blues concert trip, Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Evita trip,  jewelry, golf, art, a shotgun, crystal and  designer handbags.
