HAWKINSVILLE — Bruce Wayne Latham, 65, of Hawkinsville, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 in Brushy Creek Cemetery with Dr. Larry Daniel officiating. Among his survivors are his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Lori Latham and sister; and brother-in-law, Karen and Darwyn Simmons. A room full of local law enforcement and first responders were honored Thursday night by the Tifton Elks Lodge at their annual Public Safety Officer Appreciation and Awards Banquet for their service in the community.Continued ...
Prior to the awards being given out, Louise Spradley, who organized the banquet, welcomed everyone, and the invocation and pledge were led by the Tift County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard.

Trojans get one hit, but win region title
If high school baseball games lasted six innings, Zack Bullard would have had a no-hitter and the Tift County Blue Devils would have been on top of the region standings. It was the last inning that cost both player and team. Coffee only had one hit, but it was all they needed for a 2-1 victory that clinched the 1-AAAAAA title.
