ESMS wrestlers to rep Tifton, South Georgia in Forsyth

TIFTON — The Eighth Street Middle School Blue Devils wrestling team traveled to Cook County Middle School Jan. 13 to take on the Cook Middle School Hornets and the Colquitt Middle School Packers.

Coach Zac Martin’s Eighth Street team had an impressive win of 72-35 over the Packers with scoring as follows: Rodquadious Redding, Alex Cain, Mason Strickland, Earnest Williams, Dante Black, Brody Cooper, Seth Spillers and Bronson Lott all had successful pins. Seth Spillers and Bronson Lott are undefeated for the season. Josh Hamrick came in with a 12-2 and tech, Tyler Gay 9-7, Will Roland at 13-0 with a tech, Cody Waldschlager 13-7, Wesley Hodnett 10-4 and Mason Sellars 8-6.

Against the Hornets the wrestlers came together for a collective team win with scoring as follows : Hamrick, Keyshaun Mays, Cain and Strickland all with pins; Gay, with a 9-2; Gary Coleman at 8-4; Redding, with a 10-0 and tech; and Waldschlager, with a 11-0 and a tech.

The Blue Devils will be traveling this weekend to the middle school state duals with 22 wrestlers to represent Tifton and South Georgia. ESMS is the only school south of Macon to be traveling to this event at Lambert High School in Forsyth County.
