David Lester Purvis

LENOX — David Lester Purvis, 50 of Lenox passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Adel. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Purvis Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Dorman and the Rev. Dan Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Lenox City Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends  from 6 until 8 tonight at Purvis Funeral Home.

Mr. Purvis was born Sept. 19, 1961 to the late J.T. and Louise Collier Purvis. He was employed with Purvis Funeral Home in Adel. He enjoyed fishing and loved his family very much. Survivors include his wife, Libbi Deen Purvis of Lenox; son, Drew Purvis of Lenox; two daughters, Katie Purvis of Lenox and Heather Purvis of Tifton; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Sandey Purvis of Adel; niece, Laura and James Johnson of Smyrna, Tenn.; nephew, John David and Meredith Purvis of Tifton; two great-nephews, John Purvis and Konner Purvis; one great-niece, Arden Johnson; his mother-in-law, Beth and Ted West of Valdosta; his father-in-law, Ralph and Gina Deen of Adel; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judi and Chris Cain of Nashville; nephew and niece, Chad and Alyssa Cain, and Rachel Cain of Nashville; and a great-niece, Madison Cain.     LEOs and first responders honored at banquet

    A room full of local law enforcement and first responders were honored Thursday night by the Tifton Elks Lodge at their annual Public Safety Officer Appreciation and Awards Banquet for their service in the community.
    Prior to the awards being given out, Louise Spradley, who organized the banquet, welcomed everyone, and the invocation and pledge were led by the Tift County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard.
