James Donald Benefield

NASHVILLE — ames Donald Benefield, 62, of Nashville, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Vickers Church Cemetery in Nashville with the Rev. Donnie Wright officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. today before the service at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Roy Cooper, Rodney Patterson, Jeff Thompson, Andy Thompson, Timmy Thompson and Jeffery Jones will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Benefield was born Oct. 19, 1951 in Atkinson County to the late James Edward and Thelma Connell Benefield. He was also preceded in death by one grandchild. Mr. Benefield was a retired automobile mechanic for the Georgia Department of Transportation. Known for his creativity, he excelled in welding, drafting and building. Mr. Benefield enjoyed fishing and was an award winning coon hunter throughout the Southeast.

He is survived by his children, Donald Dwayne Benefield and fiancé, Sandra Giddens of Nashville, Tammy Denise Benefield Rush and fiancé Bobby Lewis of Jacksonville, Fla., Lisa Ann Benefield Washington and fiancé, Al Leary of Macon and Robert George Benefield and wife, Crystal of Nashville as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
