Tiftarea headed for state track meet

TIFTON — There will be lots at stake and lots at state for Tiftarea Academy Thursday. The state track meet is set to begin at Albany's Hugh Mills Stadium and the Panthers have qualified in 21 different events. Long distance, short distance, relays, jumping, there will be at least one individual in all of those and in a handful of events, there will be two Panthers.

The school is even sending two teams into the girls 4x100 relays. Neeli Fortson, Madison Smith, Morgan Strenth, Rainee Baker and Marlee Marlow are the possibilities for one squad while Audrey McMinn, Missy McKay, Grace Hall, Kasey Goodman and Marlow are the candidates for the other.

Other qualifiers, as announced by the GISA are, for the Panthers:

100 dash: Charlie Massey.

200 dash: Austin Stripling.

400 dash: Massey.

1,600 run: Conner Kozma.

110 hurdles: Josh Hancock, Taylor Dukes.

300 hurdles: Hancock, Dukes.

High jump: Stripling.

Long jump: Montrel Henry.

Triple jump: Nathan Carswell.

4x100 relay: Ethan Mims, Massey, Stripling, Henry, Hancock.

4x400 relay: Wesley O'Quinn, Logan Carswell, Nathan Carswell, Massey, Noah McMinn.

And for the Lady Panthers:

100 dash: Strenth.

200 dash: McKay, Smith.

400 dash: McKay.

High jump: Smith.

Long jump: Smith.

Triple jump: McKay.

800 run: Fortson.

100 hurdles: Marlow.

4x400 relay: Strenth, Smith, McKay, Fortson, Goodman.
