Betty Laura Fain

OCILLA — Betty Laura Fain, 84, of Ocilla, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today at Frank Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, with the Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow at Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County.

Mrs. Fain was born Jan. 14, 1930 in Ocilla to the late Roy Quinn and Bertha McMillian Freeman. She lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker. She graduated from Ocilla High School. Mrs. Fain was a member of the “Rambling Sisters” and she loved to garden and travel, especially to the beach. She also looked forward to going out with her sisters and sister-in-law on their monthly “day out.” She was also very faithful to visit her sisters in the nursing home. She kept many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and what they will miss the most will be her cooking. Mrs. Fain was a very active member of Frank Primitive Baptist Church and participated in many church activities including choir and ladies circle.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Fain of Ocilla; two daughters and sons-in-law,  Lisa and Warren Mixon of Ocilla and Catherine and Mike Sirmans of Ocilla; five grandchildren, Rob and Brandy Mixon, Ben and Therese Mixon, Lea and Todd Pate, Blake and Stephanie Sirmans and Clayton and Jessica Sirmans; 10 great-grandchildren, Hayden Mixon, Destin Mixon, Fisher Mixon, Sailor Mixon, Fain Pate, Dawson Mixon, Tate Melton, Nevaeh Sirmans, Leah Jane Sirmans and Whit Sirmans; two sisters, Agnes Kelly of Ocilla and Nell and Cecil Rigdon of Ocilla; and a sister- in-law, Jewell Freeman of Ocilla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Harry Russell Mixon; two sisters and three brothers.
