TGA takes individual state titles

TIFTON — The state championships in Georgia USA Gymnastics were recently held in Marietta and it turned out to be a great weekend for Tift Gymnastics Academy. In its first year of competition, they secured three individual state championships and had five Level 8 and 9 gymnasts qualify for regionals.

Kaylee McDonald won the all-around and beam championship in Level 8 JrC. Elyssa Roberts, in JrA in Level 8, took the beam and floor championship. Lauren Klofach is the Level 6 ChD champ in bars, Khloe Parker won second in all-around at Level 9 and was 2nd on bars and 3rd on beam and floor. Parker and Anna Sumner competed this weekend at the Level 9 regionals at Kennesaw State.

TGA's Level 8 team had two state champions, three regional qualifiers and six top places in individual events. Other than Kaylee McDonald, Lyndsee McDonald won 2nd all-around and 3rd on uneven bars. Roberts also was 3rd all-around All three advanced to the Level 8 regionals.

Hannah Branch was 2nd in Level 7 bars. Klofach had an additional 3rd place finish on floor and all-around. Grace Clements was 3rd on bars in Level 6.

Coach Benjamin Ledl said, “Our girls train on average 20 hours per week year-round and work incredibly hard to achieve such amazing accomplishments. I am thrilled with TGA’s first competitive team’s success this year and am looking forward to continued growth and development.”
