Family arrested on burglary charges

TIFTON — A mother and her two sons were recently arrested for burglary and theft.

According to Lt. Col. Bobby Brannen with the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Jason Barber charged 28-year-old Alan Craig Hemphill of 130 S. Access Road in Chula with seven counts of theft by receiving stolen property.

Hemphill is accused of selling wire to local recycling businesses that were stolen from Dan Gibson Electric Company in burglaries earlier this year. Brannen said Andrew Mobley, 22, also of 130 S. Access Road in Chula, is charged with four counts of burglary in connection with these burglaries. He said 46-year-old Vicki Lynn Mobley, also of 130 S. Access Road in Chula, is charged in connection with two of the burglaries.

The Tifton Gazette had reported in a recent article that a man told officials that he had a suspect on camera who had been stealing copper wire valued at $500 from a location in the 100 block of Access Road in Chula. Mobley was located and arrested for burglary. The complainant had also reported earlier on two different days that several items and wire had been taken from the property.
