Forrest Dale “Speedy” Willis

TIFTON — Forrest Dale “Speedy” Willis, 70, of Tifton, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Greg Hester and Dr. Michael Slaven officiating. Interment will follow at Lenox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. Ty Baker, Turner Hughes, Chris Hester, Frankie Hester, Heath Flanders and David Griffin will serve as active pallbearers.

Mr. Willis was born October 14, 1943 in Tift County to the late Forrest D. and Lizzie Mae Turner Willis.

He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and J.R. Griffin and a brother-in-law, Allison “Bug” Baker. Earlier in his life, Mr. Willis served in the United States National Guard. He was a self-employed land developer, primarily golf courses in Hilton Head, S.C. and locally he worked with heavy construction in building ponds and land clearing. Mr. Willis was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed having his family close.

Mr. Willis is survived by his wife, Linda Hester Willis of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Ben Banks of Bluffton, S.C.; one son, Jeff Willis of Tifton; two grandchildren, Benjamin Banks and Sean Willis; one sister, Sue Baker of the West Berrien community as well as several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, P.O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793. You may sign the guest registry at www.albritton-beaumontfuneralhome.com. Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
