Tift Gymnastics Academy wins at Atlanta Crown

TIFTON — The Tift Gymnastics Academy captured the recent championship at the Atlanta Crown Invitational, a Nastia Luikin Cup aualifier.  At this year’s Atlanta Crown there were more than 1,700 gymnasts and the event is considered one of the premier gymnastics events in Georgia.

TGA had 18 Junior Olympic USAG gymnasts at the successful meet, placing in every event competed.

Khloe Parker represented TGA in the Level 10 competition and placed 2nd on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise and took 3rd place in the vault and all-around.

TGA Level 8 team took top honors by finishing 1st.

Individual results were all-around:  Kaylee McDonald and Elyssa Roberts, tied for 1st and Lyndsee McDonald, 2nd. In the vault: 1st, Kaylee McDonald and Elyssa Roberts and McKenzie Carpenter, 2nd. On the bars:  Kaylee McDonald, 1st, and Elyssa Roberts, 3rd.

For the balance beam: Lyndsee McDonald was 1st, and Elyssa Roberts, was 3rd. On the floor: McKenzie Carpenter, 1st; Kaylee McDonald, 2nd and Lyndsee McDonald and Elyssa Roberts were 3rd.  

In the compulsory competition TGA’s level 5 team stood out with Emma Bryan placing 1st on bars, 3rd on vault and 3rd in the all-around.  Grace Clements took 2nd on bars.  Lauren Klofach finished 3rd on bars and 3rd in all-around.  Caroline Branch and Kindal Culpepper both took 3rd place vault in their level 4 age groups.  TGA’s youngest athletes also competed well, with Brayden Callison’s 1st place in the bars and Rebecca James’ 2nd place bar and beam routines.

Coaches Benjamin Ledl and Jessica King  will lead their team Jan. 25 at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports at the Sand Dollar Invitational.
