Lt. Col. Ret. USAF Kenneth C. Fowler

TIFTON — Lt. Col. Ret. USAF Kenneth C. Fowler, 82, of Tifton, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fourth Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Moody Air Force Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Mr. Fowler was born Feb. 19, 1932 in Tifton to the late Henry A. and Thelma Alberta Cosper Fowler. He had a distinguished military career, serving as a B-52 pilot in the United States Air Force. He was a recipient of the Air Medal, the Strategic Air Combat Crew of the Year and was a Vietnam veteran. Mr. Fowler was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Airstream Club.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Virginia Kirby Fowler of Tifton; children, Patrick Wayne and Carolyn Fowler of Anderson, S.C., Gregory Keith Fowler of Elgin, S.C., Anthony DeWhitt and Susan Cole of Crane Hill, Ala., Michael Lee Cole of Conway, S.C. and Donna Colleen Cole of Conway, S.C.; grandchildren, Shawna E. Fowler, Marissa J. Fowler and Christina James; and sisters, Brenda Rasmussen of Reston, Va., Helen Heaton of Anderson, S.C. and Verdie Pearl Brady of Sylvester.
