The Tiftarea Coin Club will be hosting their seventh annual Coin and Collectable Show Friday through Sunday at the Tifton Masonic Lodge, located at 1480 Kennedy Road.
The hours of the event will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.
Ed Branch, who has been involved with the Tiftarea Coin Club since it came back to life about eight years ago, said the club hosted the first coin show about seven years ago. He said this year's location is new. All of their other shows were held at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village, which was formerly known as the Agrirama.
Some of their members have huge collections, Branch says. He has collected coins since he ran a paper route on a bicycle for The Tifton Gazette back in the 1960s and during all of his high school years at Tift County High School.
He said security will be on hand during the three-day event. A snack bar will be available for those who may get hungry while buying, selling and trading, he noted. Also, attendees will have an opportunity to raffle for collectable coins.
Branch said the significance of the coin show is that it brings coin and collectable dealers to Tifton.
"Dealers have coins and collectables to sell, will appraise your coins at no cost to you and will offer to purchase your item if they need it or if they think they can resell your item," he added.
He said dealers from several states will have coins, currency and other collectable items from all available years.
