Hilda Holden Dykes

SYLVESTER — Mrs. Hilda Holden Dykes, 84, of Sylvester, died Thursday June 13, 2014 at Pine Shadows Retirement Manor.

The funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. today at Banks Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Providence Cemetery.

The Rev. John Powell and the Rev. Ray Burnette will officiate.

Mrs. Dykes was born on July 27, 1929 in Colquitt County to the late General Jackson and Clarice Nix Holden. She had lived most of her life in Worth County. Mrs. Dykes was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking. She loved her family especially her grand and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Bobbie Ann Rouse (Billy) of Sylvester; son, Leonard Dykes (Jeanne) of Tifton; grandchildren, Melissa Thompson (Jody), Kevin Dykes (Lisa), Keith Dykes, Casey Rouse (Sabrina); great-grandchildren, Dustin Griffin, Brandon Thompson, Langley Dykes, Liam Dykes; sisters, Selma Hill of Sylvester, Carolyn Price of Jacksonville, N.C. and Jane Roop of Austell; sister-in-law, Beetsy McMichael of Valdosta and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dykes was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Preston Dykes, on Oct. 27, 1981.

The family would especially like to thank her Pine Shadows family for their loving care.

The family will receive friends today from 2 p.m. until service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
