Doss does well in gymnastics

TIFTON — TIFTON — Julie Doss participated in the 2014 USA Gymnastics-Special Olympics Championships in Marietta May 3. Teams from 10 states and three countries competed.

Doss won gold medals in floor exercise and vault, as she defeated the Special Olympics world champion.

Doss trains at the Valdosta YMCA Gym eight hours a week. Her coaches are Jane Walsh during the week and for meets, Liz Nichols.

In January at the Georgia Special Olympics Winter Games, Doss won gold medals in all four events (bars, beam, floor and vault) and won the all-around gold.  

Julie lives in Lake Park with her mom and stepdad, Jeanie and Larry Allen.  Her dad, Jimmy Doss, lives in Tifton.

She attends Lake Park United Methodist Church.
