TIFTON — Three local gymnasts excelled at the USAG Southeastern Region 8 Championships in Concord, N.C. on April 27. Lyndsee McDonald and Kaylee McDonald of Fitzgerald and Elyssa Roberts of Tifton competed against the top gymnasts from eight southeastern states. Roberts (Georgia state champion) placed 3rd on vault, 7th on bars, 10th on balance beam, 6th on floor exercise and 4th all-around in her division with a score of 37.025. Kaylee McDonald (Georgia state champion) placed 8th on vault, 8th on floor exercise and 6th on balance beam. Lyndsee McDonald placed 5th on vault, 4th on bars, 2nd on balance beam, 7th on floor exercise and 3rd all-around in her division with a score of 37.05. These gymnasts compete with Tift Gymnastics Academy and are coached by Ben Ledl and Jessica King.

Rosters, voodoo doctors topics at Kickoff to Men’s Health
In addition to the local football coaches speaking Saturday at the Tift Regional Medical Center's Men's Health Event at the YMCA, three others from the area also spoke, Buddy Nobles of Irwin County, John Gamble of Turner County and Jason Strickland of Fitzgerald. Discussions ranged from the more conventional topics of scrimmages and rosters to stranger mentions of voodoo doctors.
