Brenda Gail Parsons

FITZGERALD — Brenda Gail Parsons, 64, of Fitzgerald died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Phoebe Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Earlie Holt, the Rev. Edsel Young and the Rev. Jack Perrin officiating. Interment will follow at the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 tonight at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Parsons was born Sept. 4, 1949 in Miami, Fla. to Margaret Baldwin Hardenbrook of Palm Bay, Fla. and the late Albert Hardenbrook. She has lived in the community since 1987 and was very active in the Republican Party where she served as campaign manager for Thurman Ellis. She also was a former manager at Winn Dixie in the deli for many years. She was a member of Eastside Holiness Baptist Church and attended Macedonia Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Parsons is survived by her husband, Jerry Parsons of Fitzgerald; two daughters, Melissa Parsons of Bartow, Fla. and Sherry P. Evans and her husband, Allen, of Fitzgerald; two sons, Randall Eugene Little and his wife, Marissa, of Fitzgerald and Troy W. Parsons and his wife, Crystal, of Chula; grandchildren, Corey Evans, Brittanie` Evans, Cora Little, Kaitlyn Little, Randy Little Jr., Josh Winter, Brady Winter, Perrin Winter and Luke Wayne Parsons; and two sisters, Linda Spencer and her husband, Lee, of Chandler, Ind. and Bonie Aladro and her husband, Jeorge, of Palm Bay, Fla.

    LEOs and first responders honored at banquet

    A room full of local law enforcement and first responders were honored Thursday night by the Tifton Elks Lodge at their annual Public Safety Officer Appreciation and Awards Banquet for their service in the community.
    Prior to the awards being given out, Louise Spradley, who organized the banquet, welcomed everyone, and the invocation and pledge were led by the Tift County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard.
