Death Notices for December 29

Eduardo Cirilo Banda, infant son of Jorge Banda and Maria Nicole Banda of Tifton, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A private family graveside service will be held today at Old Mount Vernon Cemetery in Eldorado. In addition to his parents, Eduardo is survived by two brothers, Guillermo Banda and Jorge Banda Jr.; and a sister, Lilyana Banda, all of Tifton. Condolences may be sent to the family at the online guest registry at www.bowen-donaldson.com. Services for the Banda family are under the care and direction of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Arthur Massey, 92, of Ashburn died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ashburn First Baptist Church. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. The family will be receiving friends at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Survivors include his wife, Edith Massey of Ashburn; two sons, Lee Massey of Cordele and Terry Massey of Boiling Springs, S.C.; a daughter, Kay Bryan of Denver, Colo.; and a sister, Emelyn Abbott of Hollywood, Fla. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.purvisfh.com. Purvis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Manner T. Harris, 46, of Tifton died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at the Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Taylor Family Funeral Service. Survivors include his wife, Deborah Harris of Tifton; a daughter, Jessica Whitehead of Tifton; a stepson, Justin Whitehead; and two sisters, Shannon and Monica Harris of Valdosta. Arrangements have been entrusted to Taylor Family Funeral Service.

Martha Morris, 82, of Tifton died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are incomplete at the present time but will be announced at a later date. Professional care and services are entrusted to Southview Mortuary Inc.

William David Pittman Sr., 90, of Moultrie died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, in Hilton Head, S.C. Funeral services are incomplete at the present time but will be announced at a later date. Professional care and services are entrusted to Southview Mortuary Inc.

Graveside services for little Azarie Tyeria Graham of Tifton were held Saturday at Oakridge Cemetery (Baby Land). Professional care and services were entrusted to Southview Mortuary Inc.

    LEOs and first responders honored at banquet

    A room full of local law enforcement and first responders were honored Thursday night by the Tifton Elks Lodge at their annual Public Safety Officer Appreciation and Awards Banquet for their service in the community.
    Prior to the awards being given out, Louise Spradley, who organized the banquet, welcomed everyone, and the invocation and pledge were led by the Tift County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard.
