Tift to compete at sectionals

TIFTON —  The Tift County Blue Devils will be sending a large contingent of wrestlers to compete in this weekend's sectionals at Lowndes High.

Coach Shawn Watson said 10 of his crew will be making the trip, having finished in the top four at area competition last week. Of those 10, eight are assured of a chance to compete. Two more will be going as alternates.

The two who are alternates are Jake Pratt at 120 pounds and Jimmy Scarborough at 145. Both finished 5th at area.

The eight who will definitely be spending time on the mates are Dylan Musgrove (106), Nick McCall (113), Quen Campbell (126), Rayder Schemmel (152), Gunnar Schemmel (160), Devin Lewis (170), Sam Dunn (195) and Jesse Snow (285).

Both Snow and McCall won their weight divisions at the Blue Devil Invitational in January.

The top eight finishers at sectionals qualify for next weekend's state tournament, which will be held at Gwinnett Arena.
